Alberta Fish and Wildlife Division would like to invite you to Banff, Alberta for the 19th Annual ANRET conference, June 6-9, 2004.  

In the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Banff National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with lots to see and do!

Monday, June 7

1045 – 1145 hrs Dealing with Hostility – Defensive Tactics Instructor Greg Kondas - This course is designed to enhance officer safety.  It has contributed to lives saved and the reduction of assaults and has shown to improve officer professionalism.

1300 – 1445 - Brian WillisHarnessing The Power of the Mind and the Warrior Within:
It has been said that “The Mind of a true Warrior is what sets them apart from others in the midst of battle”. This insightful and thought provoking presentation will provide an understanding of how the mind works to process, store and retrieve information. Proven strategies will then be explored which will enhance any training program and allow officers to truly harness the power of their mind and the Warrior Spirit within each of them. -

Wednesday, June 9

0830 – 1030 hrs – Assessment in Training: Adding Value to Learners and the Organization - Joanne Bowden (BC Conservation Officer Service) and Mark Lalonde (Police Academy, Justice Institute of BC).  This highly interactive two-hour workshop is designed to guide the ANRET group towards the creation, and possible adoption of a set of learning assessment standards and best practices within the natural resource enforcement community.  To help make this session a success, everyone is urged to bring samples of their current assessment instruments, policies, practices and procedures.
