Welcome to Virginia!! This years ANRET Conference
will be held in Historic Colonial Williamsburg. This Conference will provide
useful information that will be an asset to Trainers around the world. For
many reasons, our work environment has changed drastically over the last
several years. In response, Trainers have to be prepared to address new
topics and have the flexibility to change the way we address traditional
topics.
Please review the reservation procedures and note
the hotel reservation cut-off date of April 25, 2005.

RESERVATION PROCEDURES
Colonial Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel &
Suites
ANRET Conference Room Rate: $101.00 US + taxes
All reservations must be accompanied by a one
night's deposit for room and tax. Deposits are refundable, provided notice
of cancellation is received by Colonial Williamsburg at least 5 days prior
to arrival. (Close of business-5:00 pm EST). Reservations may be charged
to Discover, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Diner's Club. Credit
card deposits are charged at the time the reservation is made.
Room rate is daily, single or double occupancy.
This is a non-commissionable, European-Plan rate and is subject to
prevailing taxes, currently 10% and $2.00 per room per night occupancy
tax.
The special conference room rates will apply
three (3) days before and (3) days after the dates of the Conference.
These rates are subject to the availability of guest rooms.
Check-in time is after 4:00 pm. Check-out time is
11:00 am.
Additionally, reservations should be communicated
directly through their toll-free number, 800-261-9530 to ensure the
Conference rate.
NOTE: After Monday, April 25, 2005, all rooms not
secured with a one night's deposit will be released to Colonial
Williamsburg's reservation office for resale. Reservation requests made
after the cut-off date will be confirmed on a space and rate available
basis.

Suitability Testing for Natural Resource Law Enforcement Officers. In an
environment where Law Enforcement Officers are expected to carry out
multiple tasks, bear greater responsibility, and be the epitome of
professionalism, it is of utmost importance that the best candidates are

Current trends in teaching methods, proper utilization of technological
training aids, developing a strong lesson plan that can be taught by ANY
instructor, not just the one that developed it. Lt. Scott Naff, VA Dept.

1:00 pm - 1:50 pm Lesson Plan Sharing break out
session. Lesson plans are the most valuable tools we have as trainers. The
ANRET web site has been a great source of cataloging lesson plans,
however, many need to be updated, replaced, added, and/or deleted. This is
an opportunity to share the most current training trends from Natural
Resource Enforcement Agencies around the world. **Please bring lesson
plans utilized by your agency for training to this session for sharing and
to be added to the web site catalog.**

Tuesday June 14th:
8:30 am - 12:00 pm Physical Performance Standards
for Law Enforcement Bob Hoffman of Thomas and Means, L.L.P. Legal issues,
limited duty, injury patterns, disability retirement patterns, demands of
frequently performed law enforcement physical tasks, economic impact of
fitness programs, planning fitness programs, physical standards for law
enforcement, are just some of the subject areas covered in this day of
training.

6:30 pm ANRET Dinner featuring Seafood from the
Chesapeake Bay, Virginia Pork and other Southern fare. Location TBA.
Wednesday June 15th:
8:30 am - 12:00 pm Natural Resource Enforcement
Response to a Post 09/11 world. What roles do we play in this world of
increased security and risks? What resources do we have as Natural
Resource Agencies to aid us in responding to these new roles and the
demands placed by them? How can we be an effective "Team Player"
with the other agencies that are tasked with similar demands? Policies,
Procedures, Training, and Grants will be the highlight of this block of

LUNCH BREAK
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Stress Management. With the
duties of trainers constantly growing and the staff size staying the same
or even decreasing, the need for successful stress management has never
been greater. The well-being of the trainer in his/her work environment
and family environment is of utmost importance. ANRET President, Lt. David
Windsor discusses stress, stressors, and steps to properly handle stress
in this block of instruction.
3:00 pm - 4:00 pm Conference Conclusion and
Networking.
